Introduction to painting and color theory
Color, Shape, Contour is an introduction course to set up a painting. The class will explore color. What makes a triad color palette. What is the Zorn palette. How does layout and composition effect your painting. What is a strong layout and what should you avoid. How light creates depth by creating and understanding tonal values. Students will be encouraged to create their own paintings. Supply list: 8×10 canvases, at least 3 brushes sizes 4,8,10 in either a filbert or flat. Acrylic paint. Starter kits are fine if you don’t have any paints. Liquitex is a good brand to start off with.
